WEEKEND RETREATS
Prodigal Child Ministry (PCM) retreats are designed for parents who have a child living with a mental health condition and/or are battling addiction. This weekend you will be surrounded by other parents who are walking the same road. It will be a weekend of REST. This is an exhausting journey, and we want you to have a chance to rest your body, mind, and spirit. You will get REFUELED for the journey as you learn from others, make connections, and receive encouragement. You will learn how to REFOCUS your thoughts. We spend so much time trying to literally save our children. When we learn to change our focus, we find freedom.
Our November 13-15, 2026 retreat at Ark on Lake Lanier is full.
Thank you to every family who registered. If you’d like to hear about the next parent retreat, Email Us at info@prodigalchildministries.org or call 678-878-8324.
What to expect
Our parent retreat is a weekend set apart for you to rest, refocus, and refuel. You don’t have to plan anything, cook anything, or have the right words. Just come.
Friday evening. Arrive, settle in, and share dinner together. Afterward we gather for an evening of sharing stories. It is often the moment parents realize they are not alone. You will be among people who understand, without having to explain. Share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with, or simply listen. If you’d like, bring something that has helped you through the hard times with your child, because we learn so much from each other.
Saturday. After breakfast there is a morning session, then lunch and free time. In the afternoon there’s a creative art project, and some guests choose to watch the afternoon game on TV instead. The day ends with dinner and our guest speakers.
Sunday morning. After breakfast we close with special music and a testimony from someone whose family has walked this road, before checkout.
Sessions are led by caring, down-to-earth counselors and by people who have lived these struggles themselves. Every session is optional. If what you need most is a quiet walk or a nap, that’s okay.
Meals are prepared by a chef, and they’re good. The retreat is held at the Ark on Lake Lanier, a lakefront estate in a quiet cove. During free time, weather permitting, you can paddleboard or kayak, relax on the two-story dock or by the heated pool and hot tub, play pickleball, or find a quiet spot on the covered porch. In the evenings, gather around the bonfire for s’mores.
NEW: Unity in the Marriage
February 12-14, 2027 at The Sautee Inn
Loving a struggling child can put real strain on a marriage. Unity in the Marriage is a weekend for couples who want to slow down, reconnect, and invest in their marriage while they walk this road together. It is led by Kim Castro and Troy and Melissa Haas, who bring professional experience in marriage ministry. Like all PCM retreats, it is offered at no cost to parents.
Registration details will be posted here. To be notified, email info@prodigalchildministries.org or call 678-878-8324.
