What We Do

At Prodigal Child Ministries, PCM, we are dedicated to serving parents and families struggling with the challenges of a loved one’s addiction or mental health condition. Our mission is to provide hope, resources, and Christ-centered community through support groups, grief groups, sibling support, Bible studies, virtual support (online support groups), community events, and, most notably, weekend retreats, all offered at no cost to families in crisis.

Who we serve

We walk alongside parents and family caregivers of teens, young adults, and fully grown adult children. That includes moms and dads, adoptive parents, grandparents raising grandchildren, siblings, and anyone who has stepped in to love and care for someone who is struggling. PCM is led by parents who have walked this road themselves.

How we help

  • Support groups: Parents of Prodigals groups meet in person and on Zoom. They use For Parents By Parents, a 14-lesson curriculum written with the help of parents who love someone impacted by addiction or a mental health condition.

  • Grief support: Hope After a Prodigal Loss is a Christ-centered group for families who have lost a loved one.

  • Sibling support: Supporting Our Siblings (S.O.S.) meets on Zoom for anyone with a sibling impacted by addiction.

  • Wisdom in the Waiting: Counselors and other professionals teach on the issues families face. It’s free, and no registration is needed.

  • Resources: Lists of counselors and treatment programs, recommended reading, and favorite scriptures.

Our weekend retreats offer parents a sanctuary to rest, refocus and refuel. We focus on helping strengthen families before a crisis deepens. These retreats are designed to restore hope and resilience in parents, enabling them to better support their children. By investing in families we strengthen communities. One of the most powerful expressions of this is the way past retreat attendees return to serve, helping with setup, meals and hospitality for new families. On the final day of each retreat, all past attendees are invited back for a worship gathering. This moment becomes a sacred space where relationships deepen, hope is renewed and eyes are opened to the truth that they are not alone.
